I cautiously suggested to a small business  that social media might be the way to promote the amazing content on her website (lol). Rolling of eyes , sighs with the inevitable look askance at me at the very thought. This, in the internet age!

But hey, every challenge presents an opportunity. The opportunity being to point a business in need in the right direction ow why and how social media might just help achieve her marketing outcomes. So here, below, I have listed some ways of using Twitter for your business in what I hope will be an easy and relevant format:

Mostly, you  will be tweeting information  that is either sales related, or related to your business, or even just general information. This is a good way to look at the content of your tweets, for example:

  • Event sign ups
  • Time limited sales, eg early birds, deadlines, act now tweets(scarcity), coupon codes just for twitter followers etc
  • Website specials
  • In-store specials

  • New staff- pedigree, experience
  • Customer support-  you can track your mentionos too
  • Links to your how-to videos
  • Product tips
  • New launches, links to images
  • Press mentions, awards, features. Any positive mentions
  • Answer frequently asked questions

  • Industry related news
  • Ask questions
  • Requst help, suggestions
  • Retweet other tweets complementary to your business

The above is by no means exhaustive, but hopefully it will put twitter phobes in a more positive frame of mind. If you are already using Twitter, what are the main ways you use it? Email us and let us know!
