Get subscribers!

Subscribers represent a guaranteed audience for your website content.  Commonly RSS feeds are the way people get their audience to subscribe to their content but it is useful to offer subscriptions by email as well by using Feedburner. It is also worth having your Twitter account updated with new posts.

Where to put your Subscription box

A good spot to locate your subcription call is above the fold, either in the header or on top of the sidebar.  Some people will also place a second one at the bottom of single posts with a message encouraging people to subscribe.

It is important to make sure your visitors- especially first timers – see your best content when they arrive on your site. This will make it mroe likely that they will want ot subscribe to your RSS feed or your free gifts. To do this you can create a 'Popular Posts' section and locate it in the sidebar.  WordPress has a plugin to automate the task; alternatively you can manually add the links to your popular posts manually.
